Nantucket, Massachusetts
White Elephant
A preppy classic
What it is
A Nantucket mainstay since it was founded by a local socialite in the 1920s.
What it isn't
On the beach. But with yachts slipping in and out of the harbor—and town a ten minute walk away, not to mention gratis shuttles to the sea—you won’t miss it.
What we think
Pack your white jeans and boat shoes. They’re practically an unofficial uniform here, where all 67 guest-rooms are fitted with king beds swaddled in bleach white Pratesi linens and chintz armchairs, and white wicker daybeds await on the kerry green lawns. Before you arrive, book a warm basalt stone massage in the spa; there’s no better recovery from the ferry.
You're here because
You want to sip sherry by the fire while overlooking Nantucket Harbor in your private suite.
The Moment
You’ve never had fresher oysters, but you suspect the taste has something to do with your locale: outside, on the lawn, overlooking the shimmering harbor.
