Brisbane, Australia
The Calile Hotel
Modern Mecca
What it is
A midcentury inspired retreat with 175 stylish guest rooms, a sceney 28 meter outdoor pool lined with cabanas, medispa, library, and four buzzing bars and restaurants.
What it isn't
The property is not particularly geared towards little kids, and pets aren’t allowed. Leave fluffy at home. This is a blissful, bark-free respite.
What we think
If Mad Men was a happy, sunny TV show—where the characters lived their best lives in a set of pink and lush greens—it would look something like this. The Calile Hotel is inspired by the best of Midcentury modernism, but done in a warm way—think rounded, sculptural furniture and a soft pastel color palette. Every room feels like an indulgence, even the 290 square foot Essential room, with its custom oak, marble, and brass finishes, cork floor, and a linen robe and slipper ideal for raiding the in-room minibar curated with locally made tipples. For a “pinch me, I’m in Brisbane” experience, we love the 527 square foot Deluxe Suite for its private terrace that peers out on the pool deck.
You're here because
You like to check in to hotels that have everything you need to live it up, and then some. With a sushi bar, steak joint, poolside watering hole, and more, you may just have to “miss” your return flight back.
The Moment
You’ve had many trips to Thailand, but something about the dishes at sAme sAme, the hotel’s exceedingly hip Thai restaurant, take the region’s fare to the next level. One bite of Panang curry lamb shank with peanuts and fried Thai basil and you’re pinching yourself—it’s too good to be true.
