Le Taha'a, French Polynesia
Le Taha'a by Pearl Resorts
Private Island Perfection
What it is
A paradisiacal private isle with 58 Polynesian suites and villas (many stilted over the turquoise water), a locally inspired spa, three restaurants, and two breezy bars.
What it isn't
Just about laying out on the beach. Exploits here include snorkeling a coral garden, scuba diving in an eye-popping lagoon, jet-ski rides, and so much more.
What we think
You would not fault honeymooners for checking in here and never, ever wanting to leave. Le Taha’a is everything one could want from a French Polynesian getaway—and then some. Each and every room option has all the touches of a tropical nirvana, including thatched roofs and thoroughly local design touches, including ropes woven from coconut fiber and regional stones and woods. We absolutely love the Bora Bora Overwater Suite for its show stopping view of nearby islands that rise straight up from the sea and plush amenities (such as a separate shower and soaking tub, AC, Nespresso machine, satellite TV and private access to the lagoon below its 969 square foot floor plan.) For those that want to feel the powdery sand between their toes at every opportunity, the Premium Pool Beach Villa is a must, thanks to its 1,937 square foot structure set right on the beach—plus a plunge pool and al fresco tub and shower under the wide skies.
You're here because
The resort is a member of the coveted Relais & Châteaux. Translation: it’s Perfect with a capital P, from the exquisite food to the doting service.
The Moment
You and your partner picnicked on a heart-shaped sandbank this afternoon, so you didn’t think life could be much better. But tonight at Le Hawaiki Nui, as you tuck into your locally caught lobster while taking in a Polynesian show, you may stand corrected. Bliss.
