Built over a lagoon circa 421 AD, Venice has always been a heart-stopper of a destination. And when you’re here, you’d do well to stay in a hotel that maintains the delicious aura of history—just like Hotel Indigo Venice Sant’Elena. The nuns that once toiled here in its convent days wouldn’t recognize the place today: guest rooms have kept their exquisite architecture, but been modernized to suit today’s glitterati with perks like individually controlled air conditioning, zippy free wi-fi, a minibar and coffee and tea making station, and so much more. Some of the starting rooms can feel cozy; if you’re traveling with the family, we recommend the more spacious Suite with Garden View or, best of all, the Duplex Suite with Terrace—it has a two level, 753 square foot floor plan with a fully separate living room ideal for cocktail hour.
