Yountville, California
The Estate Yountville
Oenophile Excellence
What it is
A 22 acre vineyard-flanked village with two hotels, an earthy spa, 24/hour pool and hot tub, and three restaurants that even the locals can’t get enough of.
What it isn't
Hangry. The hotel offers gratis (and abundant) European-style breakfasts to each and every guest, including local cheeses, buttery baked goods, charcuterie and more.
What we think
There is seemingly no end to the pampering at The Estate Yountville, and that’s just the way we like it. Welcome drink upon arrival? Check. Comped wine tastings, loaner bikes and yoga in the vineyards? Yup. Even the valet and car service—within six miles of the property—is included in the resort fee. Guest rooms themselves are just as luxe and lovingly designed, and absolutely enormous. The modern Estate Guestroom King’s at Hotel Villagio are 475 square feet, plus a balcony; the starting room category at the Estate’s sister hotel, Vintage House, has the same floor plan, plus soaring exposed beam whitewashed ceilings and a cottage-y vibe. Either way, expect plush robes and slippers that are ideal for raiding the curated mini-bar…or indulging in a steep in the deep soaking tub with Diptyque bath products, no less. You’ll want to book your spa treatments early; the Moor Mud thermal springs wrap is every bit as delightful as it sounds.
You're here because
The hotel offers wine tastings with expert vintners and live music every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night…and if that doesn’t say vacay, nothing will.
The Moment
Spain has so much in common with California’s wine country, but especially at the hotel’s Coqueta—where Chef Michael Chiarello churns out the most entrancing tapas you’ve ever had, including wood-grilled octopus with Pimenton confit potatoes.
