The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka

What We Think

There are some 450 paintings—mostly from 18th century and 19th century Europe—hung on the walls of the hallways at the Ritz-Carlton, Osaka, which tells you something about the hotel’s artful approach to life. Every detail has been carefully curated to maximize guest comfort. Even the most basic room here is anything but; the Superior guest rooms are a whopping 460 square feet and fitted with tufted headboards, Egyptian cotton linens, Asprey toiletries, Nespresso machines, rain showers and tubs in the Italian marble-lined bathrooms, and a prime panorama over the surrounding cityscape from their high floors (anywhere from floors 24 to 37). For those traveling en famille, we love the 689 square foot Junior Suites for their sitting areas. The Japanese Suite, too, is a showstopper—with Hinoki timber walls, tatami mats and two bedrooms made private by Shoji screens, it feels like a ryokan (inn) that’s been transported to the 25th floor.

What It Is

An ultra-luxe retreat inspired by Georgian-era British estates with a Michelin-starred restaurant, spa with La Prairie treatments, and a museum-worthy art collection.

What It Isn't

Just for grown-ups. The Ritz Kids program is tailor-made to dote on little ones, from the kids food menu to children’s PJs, robes and even slippers.

You're Here Because

The bilingual staffers have planned an exquisite medley of activities for guests, whether you want to go on a photography tour of the neon district or explore the Osaka Central Fish Market at daybreak with the chef himself.

The Moment

Francophiles flock from across the globe to dine at La Baie, which garnered a Michelin star…and no wonder, you think, curled up in your banquette by the fire. One blissful bite of roasted wagyu with coffee butter and you’re in another galaxy altogether.
