Grand Hotel Sofia

Artful Elegance

What it is

A celeb-favorite since it opened, with a museum-worthy art collection; a spa complete with a sauna, solarium, and steam room; and three lauded bars and restaurants.

What it isn't

Hangry. The hotel’s legendary Grand Breakfast buffet is the kind dreams are made of, with all manner of deliciousness—from the hearty to the pastry—abundantly served.

What we think

Calling a hotel “Grand” gives it a lot to live up to. But Grand Hotel Sofia is very worthy of its moniker. Guest rooms are reportedly the largest in town, even if you book a Superior Room (a whopping 538 square feet). We love the 754 square foot Corner Suites for their wraparound views of the cityscape, but whatever room you select, expect luxe touches; amenities here include marble lined bathrooms, gratis mineral water and in-room tea and coffee, a sitting area, and robes and slippers ideal for raiding the in-room mini bar.

You're here because

You love to sleep where fame has slept, and Grand Hotel Sofia is arguably dropping more names than any other hotel you’ve ever booked. Everyone from Selena Gomez to Sting have stayed here, often while filming Hollywood blockbusters.

The Moment

After your hot stone massage and chocolate therapy at the spa, you decide to stay in tonight—you’re far too relaxed to hit the town. Thankfully, Shades of Red restaurant awaits with everything you need to treat yourself—down to the wagyu steak and, for dessert, a Bulgarian yogurt with pumpkin jam and a dusting of walnut biscuit crumbs.

Restaurants & Bars

Shades of Red - Offering international cuisine and great local specialties by a magnificent outdoor terrace.

Grand Breakfast - Specially selected breakfast menu

Grand Cafe - Enjoy a cup of coffee and delights from the pastry menu or light dishes all day long

Location

Straddling central Sofia’s City Garden, ten blocks walk from the Earth and People National Museum, where you can see everything from 200 million year old giant crystals to precious stones, such as fire opals from Kazakhstan.
