Villa Saint-Ange
When you close your eyes and picture your dream Provençal getaway, you’re probably picturing exactly this: a place where each of the 34 rooms is fancifully adorned with intricate wallpaper murals, gilt antique furniture, parquet floors, and detailed woodwork. Classic Rooms overlook the pool or cypress trees of the garden and are a tidy 226 square feet; we think it’s worth treating yourself to a Superior Room for its more generous floor plan and silk window treatments that would wow Marie Antoinette herself. Our favorite room here, though, is undeniably the Suite: it’s 807 square feet of splendor, from the antique objet to the silk curtains tied back with bronze brooches. Whichever room you select, amenities are plush, and include monogrammed robes and slippers, custom toiletries, AC, high-speed fiber internet, and oh-so-much more.
An 18th century villa reborn for today’s tastes: there’s an organic spa with Dr. Hauschka products, heated al fresco pool, and Mediterranean bar and restaurant.
Cramped. The Second Empire villa presides over significant grounds that include a manicured garden (note the 400-year-old olive trees).
The seasonally heated al fresco pool is everything you could wish for a Provençal getaway, lined with daybeds and chic umbrellas.
You’ve just worked your croissants off at the wood-walled hotel gym, and now it’s time to treat yourself in the spa, where Dr. Hauschka products are house staples. Today’s bliss? An ayurvedic massage that makes you feel brand new…just in time for dinner.
