Park Hyatt Milano
Nestled in a 19th-century palazzo connected Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Park Hyatt is a Gucci loafer’s throw from the city’s most famous landmarks: the Teatro alla Scala, the Duomo and, yes, the Prada store. But location isn’t all the Park Hyatt has up its well-coiffed sleeve: The rooms are stylishly austere, with beige and earthen tones, innovative lighting, Italian marble bathrooms and handblown Murano glass lamps. (Ed Tuttle, of Aman fame, did the interiors.) The lobby lounge’s glass-and-steel dome echoes the architecture of the adjacent Galleria, an original artworks, including a glistening Anish Kapoor in the lobby and a series of works by the contemporary Milanese artist Velasco Vitali. The restaurant, VUN, offers traditional Italian with a contemporary twist and the Sisley-branded spa offers treatments focusing on the balance between mind, body and soul.
A wonderfully located, well-equipped hotel in the historical heart of Milan.
Design-forward: You’ll find splashes of Milanese style, particularly in the suites, but the look is more tried-and-true consistent than totally trendy.
You want a taste of Milanese design without being overwhelmed, and you appreciate the guaranteed excellence of a Park Hyatt in an unbeatably central location.
Looking out of your window to the glass-roofed Galleria, you hear the bustle of passers-by, the happy cries of excited shoppers and the stunning procession of Milan’s fashionable denizens. Time to join them!
