Jw Marriott Venice Resort And Spa
This hotel makes the most sense once you’ve been into Venice for a few hours and you’re ready to leave the crowds behind. The island is large, green, and surprisingly peaceful for Venice. There are multiple pools, including a rooftop infinity pool that looks out across the lagoon toward the skyline, plus a large spa, sports courts, and walking paths around the grounds. Rooms are modern and fairly minimal compared to traditional Venetian hotels, but they are spacious, which is rare for Venice. Some suites and villas come with private gardens or plunge pools, which makes the resort work well for longer stays or families. Food is a big part of the experience here. There are several restaurants, including a rooftop restaurant and casual poolside options. The resort even has its own cooking school and a large garden that supplies herbs, produce, and olive oil used in the restaurants. The overall feeling is that this is where you stay when you want to experience Venice, but you don’t necessarily want to sleep in the middle of it.
The JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa sits on its own private island, Isola delle Rose, about a 15 minute boat ride from St. Mark’s Square. The setting is what makes it different. Instead of narrow alleys and crowded piazzas, you get gardens, open space, olive trees, and wide views across the lagoon back toward Venice.
It is not ideal if you want to pop in and out of your hotel room all day while sightseeing. Staying here means committing a little bit to the boat ride back and forth, but that’s also the reason people love it.
You like the idea of Venice, but you also like space, quiet, and a pool. You want to sightsee during the day, then come back somewhere that feels like a resort. You’re traveling with family, or staying more than two nights, and you want Venice to feel relaxing, not exhausting.
You come back on the evening boat as Venice starts to get soft and golden. The crowds are still in the city, but you step off onto the island and it’s quiet. The air smells like the sea and the gardens. You walk up toward the rooftop and the skyline of Venice is sitting across the water like a painting. That’s when the hotel really makes sense.
