Palazzo Venart

If you want to live like Italian nobility when you’re in Venice, Palazzo Venart is the spot. Guest rooms here are utterly dazzling, beginning with the 236 square foot “Classic Rooms,” which have antique exposed beam ceilings, Venetian stucco walls, hand-painted frescoes, tasseled window treatments, carved furniture, Calacatta marble-lined bathrooms….shall we go on? If you’re not in Venice often, it’s well worth booking a room with a view of the canals. Our favorite: the Suite Grand Canal, which has castle-worthy parquet flooring, an onyx clad bathroom, separate living space and the kind of glittery furniture Marie Antoinette would have wanted on a Venetian stay.

Blah. The hotel’s curated experiences range from behind-the-scenes visits to a circa 1500 velvet mill to private Murano glass tours.

The hotel’s original structure dates to the 15th century, and over the centuries, it has been home to counts and blue bloods galore.

Under the hand-painted murals at the aptly named Glam restaurant, you’re not surprised it’s the only two Michelin-starred restaurants in town. It’s pure perfection, from the artful plating (the thistle, hazelnuts, and truffle especially) to the lagoon views.
