Fort Lauderdale, Florida
The Pillars Hotel
Waterfront Wonder
What it is
A serene 24-room retreat edging the Intracoastal Waterway, with a private dining club overlooking the yachts and palm tree and daybed-flanked outdoor pool.
What it isn't
Sleek and modern. The hotel has a much-loved classical touch that makes it timeless for the ages.
What we think
Step into The Pillars, and you might feel like you've been transported to a classic Caribbean hideaway: all louvered shutters, gracious balconies, and lush gardens scented with salty air. Even the “starting” room categories feel sprawling, thanks to outdoor seating areas; the tented balcony of the Queen Poolside Cabana Room adds another 142 square feet to the 200 square foot floor plan. If you’d like an even more spacious refuge, we can’t get enough of the Birch House Grand Suites—set in the adjacent Birch House, they’re a whopping 1,125 square feet, with fully separate living rooms and two bathrooms (a boon for larger groups).
You're here because
The hotel doubles as a members-only club, and you love that ultra-exclusive feel. As a hotel guest at the “Secret Garden Dining Club” restaurant, you’ll be treated like a V.I.P. member; be sure to ask about their wine pairing dinners and cocktail hours.
The Moment
Sipping your perfect dirty martini dockside, you can’t help but marvel at the scene before you: a pink sky, reflected in the water, and in your martini glass. Florida at its finest.
