In these huge (starting at 614 square feet) rooms, Macassar ebony wood turns the headboard and side tables into showpieces; white marble-lined walls and fathomless soaking tubs transform the bathroom into a de facto spa. We love that the Cafe & Bar is a place Atlantans go to see and be seen; comfort food dishes on recent menus included gold pumpkin gnocchi in local olive oil and roasted Maine lobster with roasted heirloom cauliflower.

Family unfriendly. At Waldorf Astoria, even wee ones get a red carpet treatment, with babysitters, children’s menus, and loaner cribs and high-chairs at-the-ready.
