Mayfair Hotel

What We Think

Mayfair Hotel represents one of the more compelling “city-meets-ease” stays in Adelaide. The advantages are clear: oversized rooms by local standards, thoughtful touches—local furnishings, marble desks, comfortable beds; and the convenience of being steps from shopping, markets and nightlife. The public spaces and mood lean stylish, with the rooftop bar offering a sense of escape even though you’re in the middle of the city. When it works, the service is polished and earnest; recent guest reviews praise comfort, room size, and the complimentary minibar on arrival. That said, it is not without imperfections. Multiple reviews note that while many rooms are great, some show signs of wear; cleanliness and décor can be uneven, and occasionally service lapses (especially during busy periods) are mentioned. For a longer stay seeking calm or for light sleepers, the city-centre placement can be both boon and burden. In short: Mayfair carries the strengths and compromises of a well-sited city hotel. If you care for comfort and convenience above isolation, it is a solid pick; if you want quiet seclusion, perhaps less so.

What It Is

Mayfair Hotel sits in a heritage-listed 1930s building at the corner of King William and Hindley Streets, right in the heart of Adelaide’s city centre.

What It Isn't

This is not a secluded resort, nor a quiet boutique hideaway. It is not a hide-out deep in the calm outskirts. Mayfair is in the thick of urban energy: city streets, nightlife, people passing, trams, noise.

You're Here Because

You want to be at the heart of Adelaide; shops, restaurants, nightlife, transport links; without giving up on comfort, room size or a sense of hospitality. You appreciate a hotel that feels designed for real life: walkable days, easy nights, a rooftop drink or nearby meal without fuss.

The Moment

It is early evening. You step into the HENNESSY rooftop bar, cocktail in hand. Lights of the city start to glow, traffic hums below, but up here the air feels still, lifted by the height. Later you return to your room, windows open just enough to carry sounds of nightlife. The bed is soft, the kitchenette ready for a late-night snack.
