explora Rapa Nui
You may be ensconced on a famously remote volcanic isle when you stay at Explora Rapa Nui, but that does not mean you’re roughing it. Far from it. Even the “starter” guest room option here, the Varua Room, is a 345 square foot retreat complete with a jetted bathtub, window seats beside the nearly floor to ceiling windows, and (phew) air conditioning. If you’d like an even roomier option, the Raa Suites are jaw-droppers, with their expansive 474 square foot floor plans overlooking the ocean from bay windows and intimate dining area ideal for cocktail hour. Don’t forget to stop by the Explorer’s Bar at least once or twice during your stay to swap adventure stories with globetrotters (and insider guides) from near and far.
A serene all-inclusive lodge on 24 lush oceanfront acres, with more than 30 bucket list exploits (including hiking to the ancient stone moai sculptures).
Forgetting the little things. Service and food here are exquisite, and each Instagrammable dish is served with a local wine so good you’ll want to ship a case home.
You get a bit nervous traveling to remote areas, but the entire Explorations staff has been certified in Wilderness Advanced First Aid, and there is an emergency facility at the nearby Hanga Roa hospital. In other words: live large.
After hopping aboard a boat at Hanga Roa cove, your guide beelines straight for Motu Tuatara…where you not only snorkel amid the most eye-popping undersea corals and fish you’ve ever seen, but you can investigate ancient archeological sites. You’re not Bond…you’re Indiana Jones—and you love it.
