Zannier Hotels Sonop

What We Think

If Meryl Streep and Robert Redford filmed their iconic film “Out of Africa” again today, they might select Zannier Hotels Sonop as a particularly cinematic backdrop. It’s almost a mirage…a fever dream of luxury in the midst of pure rugged nature that stretches boundlessly to the horizon. Their one-Bedroom Tents sleep two adults and one child (ages six to 12) in their 452 square foot floor plans, and include every perk you could ever ask for in the midst of the desert, including Bluetooth sound systems, zippy free WiFi, a telescope, Nespresso machine and kettle, and roll-up canvas walls for taking in the view. For a larger option, book a Two-Bedroom Tent; each contains two separate bedrooms complete with en-suite baths and a central living space within their expansive 807 square foot interiors. While you’re here, don’t miss a whirl through the on-site stables or, better yet, horseback ride across the landscape. You’ll never forget it.

What It Is

Ten British colonial-style glamping tents on a private swath of 13,800 acres, with an infinity pool and astonishing guest experiences that go far beyond the expected.

What It Isn't

Roughing it. Your “tent” will be fitted with a private terrace, soaking tub, rain shower, and—yes—heat and air conditioning.

You're Here Because

All the experiences on offer are bucket-list worthy, including Land Cruiser drives at dawn, electric fat-tire bike rides, sunrise yoga, and jaw-dropping stargazing (this place is among only 16 International Dark Sky Reserves on the planet).

The Moment

You never expected to have one of the best spa treatments of your life in the middle of a desert, but that’s exactly what you’ve found in the Sonop spa, where you’ve been polished with local sand and an indigenous plant known as the “devil’s” claw…and yet totally heavenly.
